Alternative to nervous and endocrine system test - this creative culminating project has students creating a poster about the purpose/function of nervous and endocrine systems, brain parts, impulse path, function of hormones and endocrine glands. Bone Fractures and Bone Trauma Unit Assessment
Students will write a story/scenario about someone getting a bone fracture. They will have to use evidence from the unit to prove their understanding. They'll have to use prior knowledge from the unit to complete this assessment. We practice writing scenarios before this assessment so students know what they need to study. CELEBRITY BRAINS - A Creative Review of Parts of the Brain
This assignment involves a group of three students who work together on a diagram and a written summary of a fake brain of a well known celebrity.The students have to be very creative with this, and it seems to work well as a review of some key parts of the brain and the functions of these parts.This assignment could be done individually in a virtual setting by having the student complete and taking a picture and submitting this.This activity works well for Biology and Psychology classes.

Human Body Functions and System Relationships Activity

Protein Synthesis and Genetic Disease Poster Project
This is instructions and a rubric for a protein synthesis poster project. I usually accompany this with acting out the process of protein synthesis.
The students have to explain the process of transcription and translation and then elaborate on how the process can go wrong and lead to a problem with a protein (a genetic disease).

Consent for Primary School Age Children is a Strategy Posters Program and How to Guide for educators. The goal of Consent for Primary School Aged Children is to teach children about consent through teaching them about touch, their body, and the space around them. Objective: To independently research a scientific topic that is controversial in society, present the science for both sides of the topic, create a visual explaining the topic, and make a stand, one way or the other, on the controversy.
Digestive System Tri-Fold Labeling/Coloring
This is a Tri-fold I created outlining the various parts of the digestive system. I have my students color-code each organ and identify the major functions of that organ. I have found that this helps a great deal with helping students understand how each organ is related to one another and how each organ functions. After reviewing the digestive system, I had students complete this project rather than the test (this lesson was so heavy with information). They had to pick a type of digestive system and create an informational poster. Then pick a disease relating to an animal of that digestive system they chose. The disease poster was informational regarding that disease.

Nutrition Board Notes with Food Pyramid and Eat Well Plate
These are notes that I project onto the Promethean board or onto any screen. The students are to write these notes into their notebooks.
