Designs for Aquatank - Performance Task/Project for Volume and Surface Area
This project allows students to demonstrate their understanding of volume and surface area of three dimensional figures. It gives students the opportunity to directly apply their knowledge and understanding of geometrical objects in a real world situation.
Students will put themselves in the shoes of engineers at Aquatank, an imaginary aquarium company. Students will receive the request of customers to design tanks with specified volume and unique characteristics that meet their needs and wants

Pythagorean Theorem Instagram Project
***This project was NOT my idea, but compiled by ideas that various teachers have posted online!!!!!!!***Rather than test my students on Pythagorean Theorem, I decided that students can use something they know all about - Instagram - to showcase their understanding.Suggestion for extending: Include a requirement for students to plot their right triangle on a coordinate plane and prove the distance formula!Once students have submitted their projects, make a wall to display Pythagoras' posts!
Gifted Education Math Game Design Project Rubric
I designed this rubric to assess my gifted math students as they chose from a project menu to create a game to practice geometry standards.

Transformation Project
Students work individually or with a partner to create their own rigid figure on a 4-quadrant grid. They will reflect it, translate it, and rotate it across the coordinate plane. Students will have fun expressing their creative side while applying the rules for transformations.
Surface Area/ Volume Project
Students have the ability to pick one of the 6 choices to complete their project on surface area and volume.
Great summative assessment for the end of the unit.

Geometry Popcorn Project - Surface Area and Volume
Students explore the relationship between surface area and volume by creating popcorn containers using only one sheet of paper. Geometry Kite Building Instructions and Rubric
This rubric gives the instructions for building a kite in a high school geometry class.

Re-Design a Candy Box
This project was used for 7th grade 3-d Geometry unit. It was written in tandem with our Art teachers.Students need to be provided with miniature pieces of candy to complete this project. Any type of candy can work, and the bigger the variety makes for a more engaging class. Students can work individually or in groups to determine the most accurate measure of the candy's surface area and volume. They must then decide which 3-d shape to create as a box that could hold the most amount of candy.

Animation Project Rubric (Tranformations)
This is a rubric generated from an Animation Project involving Rigid Transformations. Students use a digital slide presentation with a clip art of their choice and perform a variety of transformations of that image to create a slideshow animation.
Who can blow the biggest bubble?
This project allows students to practice finding the area and circumference of circles. Students will blow bubbles that have food coloring in them onto a piece of paper. Once the bubble pops students will outline the bubble with a marker so that it is easy to see. Students will use a ruler to determine the diameter of the circle. They will then determine the radius, area and circumference of the circle. The will work with other students to see who has the biggest bubble!
