State Research Project Rubric
Do you assign a state research project? This rubric was designed to grade a state research presentation using standards-based grading (1-4 rubric). It is a great tool to quickly grade student work. In my classroom, each student chooses a US state to research and creates a PowerPoint presentation or Google Slide to demonstrate the knowledge that they learned. The main categories in this rubric come from the MA State Standards.

Pioneer Life Project
This is a fun project that really tests the self-will of the students! Life was very different for children who lived in the early years of our country – no electricity, no running water, no fast-food restaurants – to name a few. I wanted my students to experience just a little bit of what things were like. In this project, students will give up their use of technology for three days!! They will also have chores to do around their home, as well as do good deeds for friends, family and neighbors!

Native American Cultures Report Project and Rubric
A great culminating report assessment for a Native American Unit in the 5th - 7th grades. It includes a report description, eight explained report components, list of Native American cultures to choose from, and a detailed rubric. Students were really able to explore a culture more in depth and I followed up with short presentations from each student that included a visual aid for their culture.
