Squarea Geometry Project - Area, Volume, and Surface Area
SQUAREA (a hybrid word I created which stands for "Square Area") is a hands-on math project that helps students to discover area, volume, and surface area in a very concrete, visual manner. Students measure objects in a classroom, create square feet, draw square inches, construct cubic feet, construct square yards and cubic yards, and investigate the surface area of a cube. I teach it every year. You'll love it!

This is a great introduction lesson to rotations on a coordinate plane. It helps students discover the rules for a 90, 180 and 270 degree rotation. It comes with a class activity that can be completed as a group and an independent activity that can be used as classwork/homework. Finding the Missing Dimensions: L-Shaped Polygons - FREE
Students often struggle computing the correct values of Perimeter and Area L-Shaped Polygons since all the sides are NOT given. The student must translate distances and compute the missing side.
This process is easy to do with a little practice. The teacher can divide the L-Shape into two rectangles and transfer the dimensions, and students quickly realize that it is either an addition or subtraction problem to ensure the dimensions are compatible.
