I use this with my first graders in shared reading. I created a large retelling strip with a poster maker. Then I made small ones on strips of cardstock and students use a paperclip to slide down the retelling "rope". I then also use the organizer to model writing out student responses into sentences. Then students can use the organizer in Daily Five and at Guided Reading.

I use these with my students to practice written Mclass written stems. I cut these sets out and put them in baggies for each level. The students use library books and classroom book on their level and they paste a stem at the top, write their name and date. They answer the question and then take an AR test on the book and write their grade. They can be used in a practice stem notebook. They can be used for homework and classwork. It really helped my students be experts at these stems.
