I created these picture cause and effect worksheets to help students discover the simplicity of identifying cause and effect relationships. After using these worksheets for a FCIM cycle, the majority of my students are now able to make the connections in text as well.

This worksheet is modified from the middle school reading curriculum. It has five scenarios where students are asked to use clues in the sentences to draw an inference or conclusion. They are asked, "What can you infer?" with a field of three answer choices, each with a picture clue.
For alternate ideas, have students use highlighters to highlight key words that help them make an inference.
As an extension: Students can write their own scenario and have the class or a partner make an inference.
