Common Core math standards include identifying and creating reflections, rotations, and translations. This song, to the tune of "The Mexican Hat Dance," has been successfully used in grades 3 and 4 in both math class and the music class. This fun, well know, holiday melody can give students the practice necessary to instill the required and difficult Geometry vocabulary for late elementary and early middle school. Words such as "Isosceles" and "Perpendicular" are quickly lost by students because they are not used regularly. The repetitive nature of this song, and the fun spirit of the holidays are sure to help students remember this difficult language.
