This lesson gives the students the opportunity to chant and move. Students will learn a chant that helps them identify when to subtract and when to borrow before subtracting. The song was written as a fun listening exercise. The students need to focus on the directions and it gives them a chance to move their bodies. The song has been used from grades K-7 (however, the older students liked it for the novelty). With a discussion about the expectations, some clarification with some movements, and guidelines that fit your class, the song can break up a long day.
