Pick Your Own Path: First Aid and Emergency Action Plan Lab
Students will be presented with an athlete injury case. At each step of treatment, they will be prompted to pick their own path. Students will work to address emergency issues, include other medial professionals, and initiate emergency action plans as needed. Game Plan- Developing a Return to Play Protocol- summary/end of year project
This project challenges students to evaluate the link between injury and rehab as it related to return to play in athletics. My Sports Med students are required to evaluate an ankle/lower leg injury. I make up a scenario, and students need to evaluate their partner's ankle/lower leg. Students are required to do this WITHOUT looking. This is their end of unit exam.

HOPS/HIPS Evaluation Project
The HOPS/HIPS evaluation project is a project I do with students to end the Evaluation and Assessment unit before reviewing for their exam. I allow students to work with ONE partner. They're responsible for splitting up the evaluation evenly and presenting it to the class. This is something we do when we're finishing the unit and not breaking down specific joints yet. I give students 1 (47 minute) class period to prepare for this. The next two days is when students present it to the class.

Health Careers Research Project
Students will research a health related career and present it to the class. I've included a checklist, outline, a career list, and a rubric for the students. I also included a teacher rubric to help make grading easier. I usually give students 6-7 class periods (47 minute periods) to complete this project before presenting to the class. I like to assign a random career to each student so they aren't presenting the same thing. I do this at the end of the school year when students are checked out!

Skeleton Project for anatomy/sports medicine classes
After a skeletal system unit you can have students complete this project as individuals or in groups. I put students into groups, give each group a 6 foot piece of butcher paper, have the group have 1 member lay on the paper and have the group trace their outline. inside of that outline the group must draw the skeletal system and add THREE different fractures discussed in my fractures ppt lesson into their skeletons. *page numbers are based off of Jim Clovers sports medicine text book
