Have your students of create a 30 second commercial that would be on TV advertising your seventh grade English/Language Arts class, persuading the upcoming sixth graders to take, or not take, the class!

Making a Video About Systemic Racism for a Class Film Festival
Students who read Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility often say, “More people should hear this!” They are eager to share what they’ve learned with others and keep the dialogue going. This project provides a platform for them to do so and to create an enduring video. In pairs or individually, students select a focus, conduct research, synthesize findings, write a script, either find or create graphics, and shoot a video. TEDx Student Exploration and Reflective Analysis
This activity is a short writing project that allows students to explore the world of TEDx. They watch, take notes, and then analyze the video reflecting on how the video impacted them and how it could impact others. They then choose a clip they feel best represents the theme of the video to show to the class when they present. This activity has many different skills built into one including active listening, note-taking, creative/persuasive writing, and presenting.

Black Beauty on CD Slideshow assignment
This project is to be used with the Black Beauty book on CD. Students will listen to the story, and then make a slideshow presentation using Google Slides. We used chromebooks to make this presentation. Each student did their own individual project. Common Core 4th Grade standards are listed on the assignment. An assignment like this also allws you to send home the fiished product. All you have to do is put you teacher email on the line on where to have the students send it to.

Peacemakers Throughout History
This project aims to address many components of social and academic growth in middle school students. This unit was originally written for 5th graders, but could be easily adapted for 6th, 7th or 8th graders. Students work collaborative to research a peacemakers, independently write and informative piece and as a class create a video showing the qualities of a peacemaker and how those qualities can be applied to them.
