Cosmetology December Lab Sheet Bingo

Culinary Lab Plans and Evaluation Rubric Templates
Here are some lab plans I've used in the past for students who need specific job instructions. In older students, I don't give out specific instructions because they work more individually, but this is a great way to start them on division of labor in a lab. I've also included a 35 point lab evaluation, a project based lab plan, and a lab plan with a time plan included. Learning Chemistry- Sugar Scrubs
We are strarting the Chemistry chapter next week and one of the things we talk about is miscible and physical mixtures. To do a project that cements that in, we make sugar scrubs! I found 9 recipes that I copied and put in a document. Pick the ones your like! I divide my students up in small groups and they make all 9, we label them and then we use these as we kick off pedicures in a few weeks. We do a spa day for clients in November and these Fall/Christmas scrubs will be a great addtition

Cosmetology Lab Sheet for October
I am still teaching a lot of new material to my Juniors students, but it is so good to go back and revisit the things we have already learned. So anytime in the month of October that they get done early or need soemthing to do, they go to the October sheet and choose an item to complete. To keep them motivated, all manikiin work must be done before the * items as they are partner work. Both partners have to have the rest of the items completed before they can work together!

Quickbread lab: muffins with variations
Muffins are a great lab for quickbreads to emphasize gentle mixing and compare it with muffins that may be overmixed. You could do the basic muffin batter and overmix it for a demonstration of overmixing vs. gentle mixing and look at the results in class before the lab. I love the variations for students to make them more unique. It's a small recipe so you could save money, but could be easily doubled and then make it a math exercise as well.

I love April! First year students are seeing the end and realizing they have a way to go on meeting their Junior Requirements! This tracking sheet we use the first day to figure out what we need yet for the year and it gives them a concrete plan to get those tasks done. They list how many they need of each thing and then we keep a running total all month of what they have accomplished! Feel free to edit it however works best for you!
