After each clue they will shade the parts of the number line that the treasure could be hidden on. Using the clues together, students will have a very small portion of the number line shaded by clue #5. The final clue #6 gives students a clear idea where the treasure is hidden. This is an EDITABLE download for a worksheet that correlates with a standard deck of playing cards. It is ideal for each child to have their own deck, but you can easily do this in pairs, groups or as a class. Sadly, students don't know what is in a deck of playing cards these days. I designed this sheet to give them a quick hands on lesson where they can look in a deck and work with it to find simple probability. The first part of the sheet asks basic questions about the deck of cards: How

Great to help students line up their numbers when needing to keep them in a place value. I use it for multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, place value and in a few other applications. It is especially effective with students with spacial learning challenges because it forces them keep their numbers lined up. It is a table that you can imput your numbers into to make it work for your students.

This graphic organizer provides students with definitions and to the right they must use a color to identify what they are on the parallel lines cut by a transversal. It gives the students a visual of the vocabulary they are learning. I used this on day 2 with my students to reinforce how we had defined them the day before. I left it as a word document so you can choose to give your students the definitions or take them away and make them define the words themselves. If you choose you could a

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.

Gallery Walk Peer Assessment

When students do posters in groups, we often end with a gallery walk. I first display each poster on desks or around the classroom and give each student or group this gallery walk sheet (front and back). You can change the categories scored to better fit the topic being covered. I give them at least 2 minutes to assess each poster and then rotate to the next. It is nice for each group to get feedback from their peers in addition to the teacher.
