RAFT: School Subjects Writing Assignment
RAFT assignment for German students learning school vocabulary. Students pick one row and write their response to the prompt based on the Role (who THEY are), the Audience (who they're writing TO), the Format they'll use to write it, and the Topic for the writing. Can be done in class as a timed writing or at home. Rubric on a 15 point scale included.

This version of the number game includes all numbers from 0-100 in rounds of five rows each. Good practice for any target language or ESL. You read the numbers, students circle what they hear. Read each row faster to increase the challenge. This is also an excellent bell ringer activity to review numbers for higher levels as most books never practice numbers again after first year. I did this with my French ONE class, yes, French ONE! They LOVED it and the results were fabulous! They know exactly what has to be included in the assignment to get full points, and there is a writing rubric I created on the front. They just staple their papers to the back, and voila! German Editing Checklist
Editing Checklist for German students. Lists grammar topics students know up to that point, each with an example, so that they can edit their writing or peer-edit someone else's. Discusses Sentence Structure, Nouns, Verbs, Tenses, Cases, Prepositions, and Organization.
Also good reference when you correct students' work - for example, you can tell them to refer to #10 on their editing checklist if it's a problem they are frequently having.
