Pythagorean Theorem Escape Room Activity

This activity contains a variety (8) of Pythagorean Theorem questions. Some questions are straight forward and very easy such as providing the lengths of the legs and asking for the length of the hypotenuse while side lengths belong to a Pythagorean triple. While other questions are more difficult as they are application questions in which some questions have the diagram already drawn and some do not.Correct answers lead the student to 8 letters which they have to unscramble to form a math word.

This activity is meant to be a bridge between Congruence Transformations (Translations, Reflections, and Rotations) and Triangle Congruence Proofs. Students will use transformations to describe how to map one triangle on to another. Note: You will need to print the sentence stems (page 1) for every station or have them projected on the board for all students to see them.Teaching Tip: I started my lesson with a brief review of transformations since it had been a few weeks since we had done them w

Instead of handing out another worksheet for review, use task cards to motivate students at their own pace. I use task cards in my math lab classes. Task cards makes differentiating easier. I can use them to target learning objectives for my struggling students. In this set of 24 task cards you will get: *What’s My Name? (8 task cards) – Identify angle relationship and explain your reasoning. *What’s My Equation? (8 task cards) – Set up an equation that can be used to find the measures of

4.G.2 Using a Geoboard to problem solve riddles with geometric attributes of 2D shapes-students build it first. Then they record their Geoboard Polygon on dot paper. A Response Sheet asks students to write the name of the mystery polygon described with geometric attributes in the riddle so you as the teacher can check and verify understanding after the student leaves the center. This activity could also be a guided group lesson if needed to scaffold support.

Triangle Congruency Matching Proofs SSS, SAS

Students use SSS and SAS only to prove triangles congruent. They are given four diagrams and room below to complete the proof. The second page gives students a list of statements and reasons they can use to complete the four proofs. Students cut and paste the corresponding statements and reasons under the proof. The fourth proof can be solved with either SSS or SAS. This can be used for students who may struggle with creating the statements on their own. This would be a good activity for stude

2D & 3D Shapes Scavenger Hunt

I used this activity for my special education students learning about 2D & 3D objects after completing some practice notes. We went around the school and found real life examples of each shape and drew a picture (as best as they could) of the object. You could easily adapt this to just your classroom if you have all the shapes available there. This is a good hands on activity for those students that learn by doing. It works for a range of grade levels and could be combined with my 3D Shapes
