Pythagorean Spiral Project
In this project, students will use the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate the side lengths of successive triangles. They will also use right triangle Trigonometry (Soh Cah Toa) to calculate the measure of interior angles. This project gives them a chance to create using Math, and to decorate their spiral in whatever way they choose. I often use this project before exams, allowing them to compete for bonus points. Modeling Tide Heights with Sine Functions Project
This is a project in which students do research on the heights of tides in different parts of the United States for different phases of the moon. Students will write the sine equations that best model these tides, and then graph their displays and answer questions pertaining to their functions and graphs.
