A fun and effective way to improve phonemic awareness! Picture sound counting boxes can be used to help students who have difficulty with phonemic awareness. This research-based technique has been proven to help children hear the individual sounds in words. This particular Smart notebook activity focuses on the beginning blends in words. Students place "chips" on a gameboard as they isolate the sounds that they hear in words.
