Water Filter Experiment- packet
This experiment is great for understanding water filtration. We use 2 liter bottles with the bottom cut off. Students preplan in their groups what materials to use and how to place them in the upsidedown 2 liter. Once the prepare their "filtration system", I pour dirty water in and we collect it (glass baby food jars work great because you can see inside) out of the small opening at the bottom. This little booklet is a great resource to use during your Pumpkinology 101 centers lesson to teach scientific inquiry during the fall months! Have the children use their sense and basic scientific principles to explore and learn about pumpkins while becoming pumpkinologists!

This set of cards is currently printable for February 2019 moon phases, but is easily edited in Publisher to match whatever month you're interested in displaying. A quick search for Moon Phases will help you figure out your numbering. I use these cards during our space science units in my calendar for sustained inquiry, but you could also use them as task cards, turn it into a sorting activity, make it a workstation - the possibilities are endless.

Jello Test
This experiment challenges students to use their senses in determining the flavor of Jellos during a science lab activity. In preparation for the lab, lemon Jello is used for all colors tested; using food coloring during preparation. Students are unaware of this prior to testing. The taste testing results are interesting as students lean toward using the color of the Jello instead of the flavor to make scientific observations.
