Christmas Rhythm Sort & Ostinato Composition
Students will have fun creating ostinato patterns with their favorite Christmas words! Sort the rhythm of the words into the boxes, then compose four rhythmic osinato patterns and perform them for the class. You can add instruments, melody, whatever you like!
My students always work in groups for composition, but this can be done as an individual activity as well!

Spooky Halloween Music Rhythms
Students can work alone or with a partner to create spooky rhythms. They can perform them for their class! Students need to think of something having to do with Halloween (skull, bat, skeleton, jack-o-lantern) and think of the rhythm it makes (ex- "skull" = quarter note). They need to draw their item, notate it and print the word if you desire.

Notation word fill in on staff in treble clef
This worksheet I created, is a fun way for students to practice their treble clef note recognition. Each student must recognize where each note falls on the staff and create the word below. There is an extra page for students to create their own words using the "musical alphabet" I have left it empty (treble/bass) so students can choose which one they'd like to use.You can use it as a test tool where students exchange papers on their own.

Staff Note Names practice sheet with list of usable words
Words on staff can be a test or work sheet. I have included a list of words that can be used. But first a practice game. I write a word on the board, and the students have to place a bean bag on the "staff" on my giant rug. I divided the staff into 2 sections with a bamboo pole, and make 2 teams. I have a team captain who hands the beans bags out, when a bag is placed on the correct line or space, that student sits down and the next student goes up for the next letter, etc.
