On Demand Writing Peer Conferences
This document allows student to use the Rally Coach Kagan structure to conduct peer conferences using each aspect of the on demand writing rubric.
Copy each set and gives cards to students. Place students into groups. One at a time a student reads a peer's writing and chooses a card to give comments about the particular part of the rubric. With this instructional strategy, students are learning from their peer's writing and it turn learning the essential parts of the writing rubric

This was developed due to my students not being able to fit their thoughts into the typicall diagram for compare and contrast.

My Favorite Teacher - Lesson plans and student slides
I use this essay prompt to familiarize my students with the informational essay structure. The unit is great as a starter because it doesn't require any research. There are lessons to teach and also a template for students to complete their work. All lessons are through Google Slides, so they can be easily transferred to Google Classroom.This package contains the entire unit.

The Writing Process Clipchart (Publisher)
I print these on card stock, laminate, and then attach them together with rings. This is the Publisher version that can be edited. I use numbered clothespins for my students to represent where they are at on the chart. The steps are: Pre-write, Draft, Authors Circle, Revise, Edit, Chief Edit, and Publish. There are notes for each step on each page. This document is editable so you can change the notes to fit to your class.

Persuasive Strategies FRIES exercise
This half sheet exercise challenges students to find the persuasive strategies used in a persuasive paragraph (FRIES: Facts, Reasons, Illustrations, Examples, and Statistics) and underline them in different colors. Then, students are challenged to write their own persuasive paragraph using FRIES. This activity was originally used in 7th grade language arts to review persuasive stratigies, but would be great for any middle grades class learning persuasive stratigies.

A booklet with information about analytical essay writing (using TEEC paragraph structure) including examples and activities for students to practice their writing skills. There are several pages that focus on using quotes as evidence that have blank space for you to insert quotes relevant to whatever you are studying.Designed to print at A4 and be copied down to an A5 booklet.

The 'Idea' Web - Graphic Organizer
Help your students brainstorm and organize their ideas with this simple ‘idea web.’ Students identify the main idea in the centre and include key details in the adjacent boxes (subtopics).
