With a starting balance of $500, students roll dice and move their game piece through the board game of Financial LIFE. Along the way, students will record each transaction in their checkbook register and experience paychecks, lottery wins, phone bills, electricity bills, etc. Working with a partner, the student who reaches the finish circle with the largest balance wins.

This is a four page packet made for K-1 students. Students can color in patterns, create their own patterns, and cut out shapes to form their own patterns. When I used this activity I had students use "click cubes" to create the patterns on page one. I also had them act out the pattern, and then they colored the pattern.

I use this tool to teach students the Next Dollar or Dollar Up strategy. It is very functional for independent work. I have found laminating these cards and having the students use a vis a vis marker this a great tool for independent work throughout the day, or as a part of a math center. The students see the cost and circle the appropriate amount of money needed. You can then see what the student needs additional assistance with, and target those skills.
