Parts of a Seed

Use this page to teach students the parts of a seed. Soak fresh seeds (We used lima beans) in water until they absorb water, the seed coat starts to come off, and they start to split open. Should take several hours. Students will each get their own seed and will be able to identify each part on their seed. They will tape each part of their seed to the bottom of their paper.

Students preplan in their groups what materials to use and how to place them in the upsidedown 2 liter.
