This is a PowerPoint I designed for students to "Choose and Do" writing activities. I have left this for emergency sub plans and it has worked really well.
The idea is that students watch the PowerPoint and "Choose" three of the writing tasks (12 to choose from!) and complete them by the end of class. There are a variety of topics ranging from persuasive topics to reflecting on quotes.

This journal activity is inspired by Hemingway's "Iceberg Theory," or the theory of omission. (In other words, "LESS IS MORE.") Daily Writing Prompts - Warm-Ups
Use these daily writing prompts (aka warm-ups) as needed.
