Mink Dissection

Minecraft Surface Area and Nets
Minecraft is all many of the kids think about....So, why not bring it into math class. Minecraft paper craft are nets that build the various Minecraft characters (they sell them in the scholastic book orders). Dissection Notes and Chicken Wing and Pickle Dissection LABS
My students spend a few days in class learning about bones, ligaments, tendons, skeletal muscles, cartilage, marrow, and tendons. I want the students to observe these parts first hand by dissecting a chicken wing.
The attached document contains notes about dissection tools and techniques. It then has a practice lab where students dissect a pickle. Finally, the document contains the chicken wing dissection lab. Teacher notes are provided for both labs.

This unit is based upon sub-topics within geology including properties of rocks and minerals, distinguishing between rocks and minerals, the shapes of minerals in crystals, igneous rocks and volcanoes, volcanoes, underwater volcanoes, sedimentary rocks and fossils, geodes, metamorphic rocks, the rock cycle, and classifying rocks and minerals.
These slides will have to modified based upon your own rock samples and numbers. It is also used with the Stories in Stone manual.

Revise vs. Edit Writing SMARTboard Compare & Contrast
This SMARTnotebook software file has 2 slides. The first shows revising and editing in a t-chart with covered descriptors under each. The teacher can remove them one at a time as they are discussed, or all at once if you prefer. On the second slide, call students up to sort the descriptors into a revolving vortex for either editing or revising. I used this as a 15 minute mini-lesson with my 5th grade GATE students on what they should be doing during each step.
