With our powers combined the Savvy Science Team has taught Science, Math, and Science Electives for a combined 16 years to a diverse student population. If there is one thing we have learned from all of our students, they love to DO Science.
Hands on, inquiry based, experiential learning. Students are challenged to think, ask questions, take risks, and DO the Science. Students design experiments using the Science Notebooking format by Michael P. Klentschy to help them explore and discover science principles.

Both Annica and Sarah attended Wright State University in Dayton Ohio and earned their teaching degree in Middle Childhood Education. Annica's majors are Science and Social Studies and Sarah's majors are Science and Math. They continued at Wright State for my Masters in Middle Childhood Education with the focus of writing in the content area. Annica is currently working towards her second Masters in the Advanced Inquiry Program offered through Project Dragon Fly and Miami University of Ohio. Sarah is in the final stages of earning a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Denver in Denver Colorado. Courtney is in the final stages of earning her PhD in Research and Statistics at the University of Denver in Denver Colorado. The three of us have continued our professional development by taking classes while teaching. Some of my favorites have been the science classes linked to the 21st Century Skills at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and online classes with Steve Spangler Science. We have worked with professional learning communities to analyze and re-write the science curriculum to be aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards for Cherry Creek School District. Annica helped to start an experiential based private school and designed the science curriculum for 4th , 5th, and 6th grades.
The Savvy Science Team was created when the three ladies (Annica, Courtney, and Sarah) all worked together as 7th grade science teachers at Horizon Middle School in the Cherry Creek School District. We found that we worked really well together and have similar ideas on how science should be taught. Each one of us brought something special to the group and in the end we created some fantastic lessons. We have all gone our different directions gaining more experience and education. We are so excited to share what we have with you.
