Transposition Wheel - Instrumental Music/Composition/Arranging
This is something I made for myself to have on my podium as a quick transposition reference if I needed it. It's also helpful when arranging music for students. African Call and Response Rhythm Worksheet
A worksheet to enable pupils to work out the rhythm and the pitch of the song Che Che Koolay.
Use this as an introduction to a composition project for a call and response song. This could be a vocal or instrumental activity. This sheet has been written for a recorder group that I teach.
Pupils have to firstly work out which rhythm goes with each phrase. They then have to work out the pitches of each phrase and then write the tune down.

Composition: “The Crane” was written for two sets of Concert Toms and Bass Drum. Composed in 5/4 meter it is a challenge for the beginning Percussionist. Not only is the meter a challenge, but the focus is also on playing as an ensemble. Rehearsal marks are made to teach the form in the music. “The Crane” pictures a crane wading through the marsh on a hunt for tiny fish.

Composition: “Chopsticks” is a well-known musical composition for keyboard instruments. I have arranged it for two xylophones and a marimba for a grade 1 difficulty for beginning players.

You can edit this to your liking. But it is great for daily bellwork, or what I like to call, the "Prelude". Right when the bell rings, you can begin to play the ear training exercise on the piano and they have to listen and decode. Good way to start rehearsal!
