Oftentimes the Cold War is taught solely as a struggle between East and West, however students should also see how it was equally a struggle between North and South. Throughout the entirety of the Cold War, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R sought to extend their influence and that of their competing political ideologies to southern nations in South America, Africa, and Asia, thus affecting the entire globe. In 1955, the first large Afro-Asian conference took place in Bandung, Indonesia to discuss commo
