Stadium Physics Lab- Finding Work, Energy, and Power of the Human Body, NGSS

Created by
STEAM Classroom
This lab is editable and includes a teacher lesson plan with connections to NGSS. The lab will give students the opportunity to work with energy, work, and power equations and calculate their power from moving up a set of bleachers. Students have a lot of fun with this lab and some of the athletes especially enjoy competing to have the most power. This could be used in a Physical Education class for cross cutting content, as well as any Physics or Physical Science classroom.

Heart Rate Investigation - Fitness in Health and Physical Activity

Created by
Stephanie P
This investigation allows students to measure their heart rates after different physical activities. It will allow them to see that the more vigorous the activity, they higher their heart rate will climb. It also allows areas for reflection and can be used for further learning throughout the year. This is a great activity to begin a fitness unit or to even start at the beginning of the year. A great cross curricular approach as well, incorporating math and the need for addition and multipli

Reflexes & Senses Lab Class

This laboratory is designed to help students develop their understanding of reflexes and sensory perception. It's a hands-on experience where students get to understand how our body responds quickly to various stimuli without us even thinking about it. They explore the concept of the 'reflex arc,' a neural pathway that makes these rapid responses possible. In the lab, students test different reflexes, like the knee-jerk reflex and achilles reflex. They measure how fast their body reacts when thei

Personal Fitness VO2 Max Lab Unit Plan

Created by
Kinsey Joiner
This unit is designed to help students discover and understand their personal heart rate zones. Students will learn the difference between their Resting, Fat burning, Aerobic, Anaerobic, and VO2 Max heart rate. Through this unit, students will individually administer four different fitness tests in order to discover their VO2 max heart rate.By gathering this information about their VO2 max they will be able to then discover what their personal fitness heart training zones are.

Posture Assessment Lab

This lab allows students to learn about labs. It has them analyze posture of a partner with a plumb line from the anterior, lateral, and posterior view. The students then explore what their findings mean. There is space at the end for an essay to reflect.TIP: I usually do a vocabulary "pre-lab" where students locate anatomical locations that we haven't gone over yet. This helps when going through the check list.
