Thanksgiving Syllable Sort
Kindergarten and first grade students will strengthen their phonemic awareness and syllabication skills as they celebrate Thanksgiving. Students color and cut out pictures of Thanksgiving item (such as a turkey and a pilgrim) and glue them into the correct column on the graph based on how many syllables the word has. This is a humorous Thanksgiving Reader's Theater I wrote for an RTI class. It is appropriate for grades 3-5. There are nine speaking parts and takes about 11 minutes to perform.
