In this assignment students watch the Disney version of Pocahontas and compare with Disney's version to what really happened. There is a timeline of Pocahontas, a map, and events of what happened in her life. After the video students must write about the comparison of the video and what really happened in her life. Thanksgiving Syllable Sort
Kindergarten and first grade students will strengthen their phonemic awareness and syllabication skills as they celebrate Thanksgiving. Students color and cut out pictures of Thanksgiving item (such as a turkey and a pilgrim) and glue them into the correct column on the graph based on how many syllables the word has. I always feel that if you are going to take the trouble of printing off a crossword puzzle for everyone it should a least last 10 to 15 minutes and be somewhat challenging.
