Writing Introductions: Hook and Thesis
Many students have difficulty writing introductions that don't just "announce" their topic: "I am going to tell you about...", or "My topic is ...".
These lessons provide a resource for students to use that offers eight different ideas to "hook" their reader's attention. In addition, students are provided with a guide for understanding the difference between a topic idea and a focused thesis sentence. Also included is a student activity sheet to practice writing effective introductions.
