My Dream Vehicle Gr 6-9 Math Project: Percents, Interest, Decimals
This project was designed with a certain group in mind - disengaged boys.
In this 20 page math project, students choose a vehicle from a newspaper or the local buy/sell/trade paper.
They'll choose what upgrades they'd like to make (new tires, paint job etc.) and then calculate the cost of the vehicle, with taxes, the upgrades- with taxes to figure out how much money they need from the bank.
Students also need to calculate the interest on their bank loan and their monthly payment.

This movie is a must in my public speaking class. I use this movie to preface our debate unit as well as to demonstrate how public speaking is not just a required course, but a useful tool that can motivate and inspire people.
Viewing guide includes comprehension questions surrounding the movie's action as well as objective-based questions (summary, text structure, etc.).

This activity / assessment has 16 questions where the student fills in the factor tree. It is a great way to start the kids thinking about factoring polynomials. it will also tell you who knows their multiplication tables.

I created this dice game for students to practice exponents after our multiplication lesson on exponents. The strategy of the game is to choose the base and exponent that will give you the highest answers, because at the end the students will have to total up their answers in order to see who wins with the highest total. This helps with number sense, multiplication practice, and understanding exponential form.
