Circuit Training - Riemann Sum Writing and Interpretation EK 3.2A2

Highlighting the style of questions in the new AP Calculus Framework under EK 3.2A2 where students have to express the limit of a Riemann sum in integration notation and vise versa. Students have to write the limit of a Riemann sum for given integrals and given area graphs. They also must find the integral form of a given limit of a Riemann sum. Circuit Training: The student begins on the first problem, finds his/her answer in another box and then works the adjacent problem as his/her #2. Th

It is best for teachers to polish their skills on this style of problems and possibly to grab a couple of ideas for exam problems. If you put it in front of students, use it with very strong students or consider pairing or tripling up to do as a team activity.Circuit includes graphs of the resulting relationships and a link to Desmos graphs with points to drag to

The first page of this resource discusses the "short cuts" to determining the end behavior of rational functions, while at the same time referencing the limitations. Graphs of functions are given to visually support those rules. Page two is a brief five problem practice worksheet and page three is the answer key for the worksheet. At the moment I am considering this a "mini resource" and offering if free of charge. I would appreciate feedback from anyone who uses it on how to improve this res

The videos are to be used as a PREVIEW of the next day’s lesson. This helps students come to class with some prior knowledge before the lesson is taught. The warm-ups are given as a quick way to check and see if each student watched the short videos. There are several benefits to this method: • Students are immediately engaged in the lesson because they already “know” something about it. • Students that learn at a slower pace, develop confidence and are more willing to participate in class bec

This flow chart gives a structured way to solve a quadratic equation. I came up with this after noticing that even my pre-calculus and calculus students spent a lot of time (when they reached a quadratic equation) trying to factor. If the students use this regularly, they will remember the method and save a lot of time. A good strategy for preparing for SATs too.

Connecting the Graphs of the First and Second Derivatives

It asked students to sketch them based on the given curve, then find intervals of increasing/decreasing, concavity, etc. It then asks them to constantly look at connections between the graphs. This activity consistently generates high quality discussions during and after.
