TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a high school math teacher with 24 years experience. I expect to teach at least 20 more years. Worked as a lead teacher with several summer programs through local universities and private businesses.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Socratic with less and less direct instruction each year. I do believe no one should be forced to teach in a way that makes them uncomfortable-that only makes the students uncomfortable as well. The amount of discomfort you are willing to undertake changes with experience and life circumstances. If the teacher is passionate about his/her topic and students' success, all else will follow.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Local district recognition several times. Who's Who of America's Teachers-multiple times. Distinguished Educator Award (Nobel Affiliation)-multiple times. 2006 Marquis 61st Edition of Who's Who in America. 2016 Presidential Award for Excellence in Education Nominee Pretty much standard stuff for anyone that has put in the years.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Michigan State University: BS in Mathematics. Also completed Secondary Ed. Major with a minor in physical sciences. University of Texas: some graduate work.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Love sports and Star Wars. And a lot of stuff in between. Common errors are woven into the circuits I write to help students notice their misconceptions. Answer keys are not included with the circuits because the answers are part of the circuit. The teacher needs to work the circuit him or herself first as prep, and then let the circuit and the students take care of the rest.
