Washing hands is always an important skill to practice, especially now! While teaching about the impact of bacteria and viruses in our world, I like to use this lab to teach the effectiveness of hand-washing. Students are always amazed at how many “germs” are still on their hands after their first quick wash. Capacity: Customary and Metric Mini Labs
These mini labs were created out of the need to teach customary and metric units of capacity in an investigative setting. Each lab was assigned to half the class for the first day and then flip flopped for the second day. Washing Hands Poster
This is an 8.5 x 11 poster on the proper steps towards clean hands. There are 6 steps to fill in the blank. Print these off in colour and display near the kitchen sinks, in school bathrooms, or anywhere where you would like good hygiene to be followed. I upload this image into my Powerpoint slideshows to demonstrate proper handwashing techniques and also use it for class discussion. Iron Safety Poster or Sign
This sign or poster is about 8.5 x 5.5 wide. It acts as a checklist to remind students what they need to remember to do before walking away from a hot iron. After printing, post it near the iron and ironing board. Another option is to print and paste it on to cardstock to create a tent effect and so it can sit on the table top near the ironing boards for all students to read.
