Readers Theater--Mansa Musa, the Richest Man in History
Not finding adequate readers theater options for my secondary students, I decided to write some myself. I use readers theater with my struggling readers to practice fluency.This piece introduces students to the history of Mansa Musa, the richest man in history, and his journey to Mecca.It is a 2 page script written for 4 readers.

African Creation Myth Comparison Activity
This is a great activity to have kids jigsaw. Break students up into 4 small groups and have them read the creation myths of these 4 African cultures. Each group reads one myth then, as a class, they teach the others through the jigsaw method. Graphic organizer test students reading comprehension and connects human culture with geography.
