Nonfiction Text Features Scavenger Hunt
After introducing the nonfiction text features, my students participated in a scavenger hunt to find the text features within nonfiction books. My students worked in partners and each partnership was given 1 nonfiction book, but this activity may also be done by rotating through stations around the room with 1 or more books placed at each station or by walking around the classroom freely to sort through various nonfiction books that are placed on shelves and counters for a given amount of time.

Story Time! A fun game to review elements of a story.
I created this game as a way for my students to review elements of a story. I have a matching game for the students to review the definitions, but I wanted a fun hands – on activity I could place in my centers.

Poetry Mix and Match
I created these cards as a matching activity to use with my 6-8th grade students as a review activity. I have used it with lower grades as an introduction to the different types of poetry. Pages 3 – 8 are the colorful cards. Pages 9 – 14 are the same cards but in a black and white version. (These could be printed on colorful cardstock or on white paper then mounted on construction paper for stability.)
