SMARTboard interactive lesson on author's point of view and fact vs. opinion
This SMARTboard lesson covers a few reading comprehension skills: identifying author's point of view, fact vs. opinion, and evaluating an author's argument. Some slides can be used as notes for the students. Other slides are more interactive. Students have to determine if statements are facts or opinions. There is a mini reading comprehension exercise at the end where students evaluate the author's argument. This is perfect for ELA assessment preparation. It keeps the students engaged!

A fun riddle that was supposed to have been created by Einstein himself. I've made an activity for French classes to traverse the riddle and come to there own answer. The video is in English; however, this can be done without watching the video if you like. They can do this individually or in groups. Full lesson supporting students to identify a variety of text features from nonfiction texts. Students discuss the purpose of text features and their importance to nonfiction texts and use this this further analyse nonfiction texts. By the end of the lesson students are supported to write their own nonfiction text including these text features. This lesson was designed for the aspect ratio of the new wide-screen SMARTboards, but can still be used on older models or SLSO by zooming in.
