Deconstruction Lab - Discovering Main Idea

This is a STEM and Inquiry based lesson which the objective of having students discover organization and main idea. It was designed to be a common experience for students as the beginning of a unit on Main Idea.

The lesson meets the Language Arts common core standard:
Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text.

Students actively engage with a given text to uncover the writing's structure and organization. Through the lesson students record their findings in their notebooks, including brainstorming, record keeping, observations and reflection.
