Choosing the Correct Trig Tool - "Whose Law is it Anyway?"
This gameshow style activity provides great practice for students to recognize the criteria necessitating each trigonometry tool (right and oblique). Students are shown a triangle with some sides and angles given, and they must either:
1) Decide what the most appropriate trig tool would be to determine the unknown (side or angle), or conclude that there is not enough information given to solve it. Or,
2) Decide which trig tool could NOT be used to solve the triangle. (This type of problem

If a student steals a cookie...
Directions: Place students into 5 - 6 groups. In case you want, I included a random group generator into the SMART file for you. Students solve the problems on a whiteboard/paper. If the team gets it right, send one person from the group up to the board to pop open a box to see what they get...but be careful! There are many game changers in there just for you...and them! The GRAY X's help you keep track of which "cookie jars" you have answers.

Introduction to Basic Trigonometry Activities for the Smart Board
Students are much more successful with solving basic introductory trigonometry problems when they spend time learning opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse and learning how to decide what trigonometric ratio to use when. This SMART Board notebook activity provides students the opportunity to practice this vocabulary. It also provides a 'pull tab' with answers. The activity ends with a little trigonometry comic relief.

Giza Pyramid introduction to Volumes of Pyramids
Students approximate the volume of The Great Pyramid of Giza by calculating the volume of each layer. This requires finding the angle of elevation then using similar right triangles to approximate the width of each step so they can find the width of each layer. Help motivate students to memorize their trigonometric identities by a game of memory! This interactive Smart Notebook game allows teams to uncover parts of identities and try to match one part with the other. For instance, students may uncover tanu, then they will hope to uncover either 1/cotu or sinu/cosu. Identities included: reciprocal, quotient, Pythagorean, and 3 of the 6 even/odd.
