Evaluating Author's Reasoning and Evidence in Arguments
This is used to evaluate an author's reasoning and evidence within their argument. I used this along side my powerpoint lesson, and guided notes on how to evaluate an author's reasoning and evidence to determine overall soundness of the argument. This is aligned with common core standard R.I. 8.8.
After I taught my students how to use this rubric to evaluate arguments, then I assessed them using a different text with the same rubric.

KWL Chart for a guest speaker
This is a KWL chart that can be used for when a guest speaker comes into the classroom. I have found that giving it to the students ahead of time to fill out their K and W columns helps to engage them in the presentation and stimulates some interesting questions.
