Article of the Week (AOW) Rubric
I use Newsela for my AOWs since I can easily modify the levels of text. If you search "Quizzed Articles Only", those articles will have quizzes, also at the same varied lexile level as the text, always with four questions.
I use this rubric to assess my students on their weekly AoWs. I actually have entered this information into ForAllRubrics for even faster assessing.

Evaluating Author's Reasoning and Evidence in Arguments
This is used to evaluate an author's reasoning and evidence within their argument. I used this along side my powerpoint lesson, and guided notes on how to evaluate an author's reasoning and evidence to determine overall soundness of the argument. This is aligned with common core standard R.I. 8.8.
After I taught my students how to use this rubric to evaluate arguments, then I assessed them using a different text with the same rubric.
