This rubric is well-suited to middle school journal writing exercises. The rubric was originally designed for a students' collections of their five best journal entries during a novel study, but can be edited to suit your needs. Biography Essay Rubric
A simple essay rubric that I use for biographies.In my school my students can sometimes be absent for longer periods of time, so I generally assign them mini-research projects/essays where I can be a little bit more indirect with the learning and not teach from a textbook. That being said, this rubric often can be used for English as well as History.
