Thinkmarks Bookmarks for students to use when close reading or annotating text. I will be using these for Social Studies mainly on our World History Studies Weekly Newspaper. Print "Landscape."

Persuasive Essay: Body Paragraph Outline
This graphic organizer will help students create an outline for a 6 paragraph persuasive essay (while its set up for a persuasive essay, the outline can be adapted for many, many different uses).
Set up of the outline includes:
3 regular body paragraphs with spaces for a topic sentence, evidence #1, a connecting sentence, evidence #2 and a conclusion sentence.

How a Bill Becomes a Law- Kid Friendly Terms for the younger grades
I wrote this about the process of a bill becoming a law for my third graders. I couldn't find anything that made it easy for them to understand so this was very straightforward and helped them to understand the process more easily.

This tool is used for four part sequencing in retelling stories, "How to" writing, and narrative writing. Students will use this to write their sentences paired with a drawing or picture that explains or goes with their sentence. Using words like "First, Next, Then, and Last" help the student organize their thoughts in a cohesive way.

Students may use a teacher-assigned article or their own article (I prefer www.newsela.com) to complete this graphic organizer. This tool was created for gifted fourth grade students, but can easily be utilized for grades 5-12!

I use this organizer to teach students how to accurately respond to informational text using 5 paragraphs. The organizer requires students to use the Say, Mean, Matter method. This helps my students prepare throughout the year for state testing. The first page is instructional. The second page is blank for student practice.
