Editing and Revising Practice with Real Facebook Profiles
Really bad Facebook statuses and profiles make me a little crazy, but they make excellent editing and revising exercises for students and are perfect for bell work. My students love when I give them these, sadly, very real Facebook statuses to work on. When I put them on the SmartBoard, they actually compete to have a turn to work on them in front of the class. Quarterly Word List handout
This is one of my FAVORITE activities I have created. I would assign this Word List once a quarter. Students would collect words in the following 4 categories: spelling, descriptive words, new vocabulary, and quotes/interesting facts.
I would emphasize that words should be tailored to them, but not too easy and not too hard/obscure. They should be common words that they will need to know/spell frequently. If they spelled words wrong, wrote words that were way too easy for their level, or left a

CVC and CVCe
Students often get CVC words and sneaky e words mixed up from Kindergarten all of the way up to 5th grade. This game is specifically designed to help reinforce the short and long vowels. Phonics: Blend Match (English and Spanish)
This is a terrific activity to use with your students. There are over 50 pictures each in English and Spanish for students to match to blends to make words. There really isn't a grade level attached to this because kids need phonics at all grade levels in order to read. The great thing about this is that if you lose one picture all you have to do is print out just that sheet.
