The Say It in Six activity allows students to focus on the key story elements when summarizing a story. While students are reading, I have them make a list of important words. Then, after reading, students are to select the six words that best summarize the entire story. Each word is written in one of the boxes and they use it to retell the story to the class, and/or write a summary. I have also had the students work in groups, and as a group they need to come up with six words they all agree on
