New World Explorers: Report and Contract of Choice Activities
This is a contract of 20 choices to along with a brief written report assignment for our European Explorers unit in US History.
The students must complete a report with note cards & a bibliography for 65 points (or a "D"). To earn a better grade, they choose alternate activities within various learning modalities to improve their points.
You, of course, can add your own choices. I had another 8 or so ideas, but they were dependent on materials that I have in my classroom, so I deleted them

ELECTIVE PROPOSAL History Through Film: Upper Division Secondary Social Science
This course is designed to explore the ways in which film can be used as a tool for teaching history. Students will learn how to critically analyze historical events and themes as portrayed in films, and how to evaluate the accuracy of those representations. We will examine a range of films from different genres and time periods, as well as explore the ways in which filmmakers have used their medium to challenge, reinforce, or revise historical narratives. Baseball & Society Elective: Chapter 1: The Early Game
I teach an elective at my high school entitled Baseball & Society. We cover baseball history until the "Modern Era". This covers the time span from roughly the 1700s until 1903. In addition to the history of baseball we cover a myriad of other topics which include: baseball's greatest games, the "player of the week" biography, skim & scan the news, as well as many others.
