Description

This course is designed to explore the ways in which film can be used as a tool for teaching history. Students will learn how to critically analyze historical events and themes as portrayed in films, and how to evaluate the accuracy of those representations. We will examine a range of films from different genres and time periods, as well as explore the ways in which filmmakers have used their medium to challenge, reinforce, or revise historical narratives. Through class discussion and writing assignments, students will develop a deeper understanding of history, while also developing their critical thinking, research, and communication skills.
