Talking to the Text Cheat Sheet for kids
Based on the Reader's Apprenticeship training, I do this sheet with the kids at the start of the year to explaining what Talking to the Text (TttT) or annotating means. It explains why its useful, how you annotate, and then provides them with a bookmark of sentence stems they can use to guide their annotations. The middle text in the poster is a sample writing that you could use to model how to talk to the text, as well as a few marks/symbols you could have your students use.
