My Writing Placemat
A Writer's Placemat is a portable word wall to help scaffold young writers!
This file contains lists students commonly use during Writer's Workshop that can be cut and made into a writing placemat. This is especially helpful when word wall space is limited or when students work around the room. Students can also keep placemats in their desks and can pull them out when needed. These are also an awesome addition to your Work on Writing center.

I Can Write About... Picture Cards
If your students are like mine, they might need some visual prompting to help them pick a writing topic. I created these cards to give my students many options for writing. To help make these cards more relevant to my students, I have used actual photos of objects for all cards except the feeling cards and the seasonal header cards. All other cards are photos.

Introductory and Conclusion Sentence Starters
Five introductory and conclusion sentence starters appropriate for K-2 grade. I print both pages in color and laminate to use during writing instruction and post throughout the year. I also print them again in black and white and make front to back copies for kids to keep in their writing folders. You might even have them paste them into their writing journals.

Word of the Week 2016-2017
This is my newest Word of the Week. It includes a word, the definition, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, pictures, example sentence, and a hallway sign to match. We hang the original file in the front of our bldg where everyone can see it daily, and the hallway signs throughout the school.
