I have typed up the lyrics to 3 of the history songs (No More Kings, Shot Heard Round the World and the Preamble) but have removed certain words. My students watch the video once and then fill in the lyrics as we listen a second (and sometimes third) time to the song. I wanted a way for them to interact with the video and get the songs stuck in their heads! Lawmaking Process at the National Level
In December we started teaching the process by which a bill becomes a law at the national level. Because it was close to the holidays I thought it would put the process to music. I ended up with "Joy to the World! A Bill has Come!" It was fun to watch the students take the test and hear them humming the song so they would get the answer correct. They can even change a few words around and have it work for the state lawmaking process as well.
